You will work as part of the leadership team and report directly to the Head Teacher for this crucial role. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with other members of the Witherslack Group team in different locations to enable you to progress and develop your skills and knowledge.

As a Designated Safeguarding Lead you will take responsibility for safeguarding within the school, this means that on a daily basis you will be liaising with statutory and non-statutory agencies, parents/carers and staff on matters of wellbeing , child protection and safeguarding and will be a great source of support, advice and expertise in the team.

Westmorland school in Chorley is expanding and in Autumn 24, we are opening the secondary site with a purpose built, brand new, state of the art school, catering primarily for children with and Speech, Language and Communication needs. This secondary site school will provide education for up to 40 children aged 11 to 16.

The primary provision in Chorley provides education for up to 56 children aged between 5 and 11, catering for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and is used to receiving awards, accolades and glowing praise from parents and professionals. However, what sets it apart is its unique ability to cater for two distinct areas of special educational need, in separate individualised and bespoke learning environments. As Westmorland school is expanding, we are looking for DSL and the role will cover both the school in Chorley and the new secondary provision in Leyland
