We are a successful business with 125 years of experience of serving local communities and offering financial support to people in times of need across the UK. To support our recent rapid growth, we are looking for a Desktop Support Engineer to join us.

JOB PURPOSE:

• Provide technical Desktop Engineering Support for Store and Office based colleagues.
• Initially manage the new build, testing, planning and deployment of Windows 11 to an estate of 1800 store and office desktops.
• Assist with planning, procurement, build and installation of store computer equipment and all associated peripherals. Support the stores local area and WIFI networks and all associated hardware to ensure continuous trading.
• Ensure office and home-based employees have required cand telephony equipment, and that it is supported throughout its lifecycle and then received back from departing colleagues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Windows 11 Deployment

• Take responsibility for the creation and system testing of the Windows11 desktop build.
• Run system regression testing of build against existing deployed enterprise applications.
• Assist with User Acceptance test program of new build.
• Plan and Deploy new desk top build to stores, office and laptop end users. New Store Openings
• Planning, procurement, build and ship with installation of all IT equipment in stores as required for new openings.
• Responsibility for delivering network connections, computers, peripherals, CCTV systems and Digital Display boards for openings and ongoing support.
• Store visits to assist our property team with the new store fits and first day trading support. Store and Colleague Support
• Hardware procurement and provisioning for new starters in office-based locations
• Management of Network connections and VOIP systems through 3 rd party provider including invoice reconciliation
• Management of mobile device fleet and 4G Store back up connections
• Store and office location visits to resolve issues as they arise. Asset Management
• Performs asset management activities (procurement, receipt, inventory, tracking and distribution)
• Ensure adequate computer and peripheral stock (for new store requirement and replacement of damaged items)
• Recovery of equipment from leavers and refurbishment to stock
• Management of WEEE compliant disposal of end-of-life equipment.
• Mobile Device Management for tablet and mobile telephony estate.

IT Support

• Provide escalation point for Store and Colleague Support team.
• Provide 2nd / 3rd line support to assist teams as required.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 5 years in a hands-on Desktop Hardware Engineering roles
• Colleague Desktop, remote working, and executive support skills
• Demonstrated knowledge for Windows build creation, testing and deployment to large estates.
• Excellent technical knowledge of PC, Desktop/Laptop Hardware
• Understanding of network technologies: Switches / Routers, Meraki, Cato
• Excellent customer service, time management skills and great work ethic
• Strong Active Directory and G-Suite knowledge

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS:

• ITIL Foundation V3 or V4 qualification.
• Project Management qualification or demonstratable experience of completing projects.
