Despatch Manager

Head Office - Taiko Despatch - Day Shift

Contract: Full Time
Salary: £40k - £50k
Contracted Hours: 40

Established in 1997 as the first manufacturer of sushi for the UK supermarket industry, Taiko has evolved into the most innovative manufacturer of Sushi, Food To Go, Prepared Meals and Snacking products in the UK, supplying Waitrose, Tesco and Sainsbury’s to name a few. Over the past 25 years Taiko has launched more first to market Sushi and Food to Go products than any other sushi manufacturer in the UK.

  • Degree qualification
  • IOSH operating safely

Preferred Experience

  • Diploma qualifications
  • You will ideally have experience working within a distribution / Despatch or warehouse environment and will have led teams in a fast-paced business handling multiple products with short shelf-life
  • You will have experience of WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) to control and manage stock levels
  • Able to deliver audit ready everyday standards through GMP compliance
  • You will understand safety and quality compliance and how these expectations need to be met
  • You will be a competent and confident leader capable of inspiring and engaging with your team to deliver results plus, promote continuous improvements within your area
  • You will possess a focused and balanced understanding towards the pressures of operating within a fast-moving Despatch, Warehouse /distribution environment.
  • Knowledge of logistics planning
  • Experience of working with Warehouse/ Despatch Management Systems
  • Good Interpersonal & communication skills
  • Proven track record of performance against targets
  • Proven Budget Control
  • Computer Literate

Key Accountabilities:


  • Health & Safety
o Pro-actively manage to ensure that a safe working environment exists for all employees within the area by supporting and enforcing standards set out in the Health and Safety policy as a minimum.

  • Quality Standards
o To lead and drive standards of quality, food safety, hygiene, and housekeeping to ensure both business and customer standards are maintained, and audit ready every day requirements are fully met.
  • Performance Management

o Appropriately manage the performance of all members and deliver improvements through the daily Tier 2 meetings.
o Provide leadership and guidance to the dispatch team members, ensuring they are effective in their roles.
o Foster a positive work environment and encourage teamwork.
  • Training & Development


o To own the training and development of all levels of your team. Actively coach, develop, recruit and train team members to the required level of competence to encourage continuous improvement within the business.


  • Performance Improvement using KPIs
o Challenges and ensure the team delivers agreed KPIs across Despatch ensuring systems are in place to collect the necessary data to measure performance against the agreed KPIs. Develop and deliver action plans s and implements
