The Opportunity

Salary: £33,945 to £36,648

Working Pattern: Full time, 37 hours per week
Contract Length: Secondment or Fixed term Contract until 31 July 2025
Location: Countywide, but can be based at County Hall, Chichester, County Hall North, Horsham, or Bridge House, Worthing

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join our Education & Skills team as a Development & Delivery Officer for our 16-19 Study Programme.

In this role you will provide curriculum leadership, management and specialist support for our Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) funded 16-19 Study Programmes. You will also be an experienced and qualified subject specialist ideally able to deliver Functional Skills English and / or maths qualifications.

You will be responsible for developing and leading on the delivery of our 16-19 Study Programme, which enables residents, particularly our most vulnerable young people (aged 16-19) which include children we care for and those at risk of being, or who are, Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET), to access and participate in suitable high-quality learning and training provision which enables them to work towards, and ultimately achieve, their potential.

You will have an in-depth understanding of the requirements of the ESFA, Ofsted and the needs of the communities who we serve. You will be working as a key member of Adult Learning Service, working in partnership with a range of other WSCC teams and external partners and stakeholders.

What we are looking for

  • A sound understanding of the Education Inspection Framework and how that impacts on classroom practice.
  • A teaching qualification to at least level 4 with experience of working with young people in an education environment.
  • Subject specialism(s) in English and / or Maths as a minimum at level 3 (to be at higher level than that which you will be delivering).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, especially with our priority residents and learners, taking account of individual need including consideration of accessibility issues.
  • Methodical approach with attention to detail for accurate reporting and evidencing of progress and achievement within provision.
  • Excellent organisational and time keeping skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team. To be adaptable and flexible to respond to the needs of the service and its learners.
  • Experience of a coordinator role, drawing together a range of activities.
  • Experience of effectively working / communicating with a variety of partners / stakeholders and the ability to apply appropriate methods adapting to a variety of styles.
  • Demonstrable understanding and practice of ensuring inclusive and safe learning environments.
  • A good appreciation and understanding of safeguarding, prevent duty / reducing the risk of radicalisation, British values and the importance of enhancing learners' awareness and knowledge.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to venues around the county to meet delivery needs, including locations that are not easily accessible by public transport. Pool cars and pool bikes available.
