An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and experienced leader to join Mencap’s Communities Team as a Development Manager. We are looking for an experienced project manager that has led and delivered community-based initiatives and is ready for their next step.
This position is a full-time role, 37.5 hours per week over Monday – Friday. This is a fixed term maternity leave cover position for 12 months. It is based from home, or with an option to work from Mencap’s London office if this is preferred.
The role will hold a portfolio of projects, leading on all aspects, including budget management, line management of delivery staff, risk management, external and internal reporting, and future development. Project examples include Bradford Buddies, MyCommunity, digital, and enrichment programmes. In addition, the role will provide programme management support to enable wider teams to deliver against Mencap’s Big Plan and implement new ways of working. They will support and enable teams to embed community-led principles into our Me Time and Employ Me services.
The Development Manager will be responsible for collaborating with fundraising, evaluation and impact, and operational teams to develop and grow the portfolio. They will support efforts to secure funding and scale up great ideas, as well as sustain existing ones.
The successful candidate will lead and manage a team of colleagues. They will support colleagues to use their strengths and to develop skills and knowledge to ensure successful performance and delivery in line with funder and contractual requirements. They will monitor progress on projects, prepare reports, and deliver influential stakeholder management with internal and external stakeholders (including funders).
This role will champion coproduction and the involvement of colleagues with a learning disability in the development of, and delivery of, our projects. They will also champion an equitable and inclusive approach, fully reflecting Mencap’s commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. The post-holder will increase the visibility of community led practices internally and externally through positive partnership working and collaborating with peers to share ideas and best practice.
