Job Summary
IWM’s Fundraising and Development Department is responsible for building financial sustainability for IWM through securing external funding from individuals, corporates and trust and foundations.
This role is vital to the current Transforming Fundraising Strategy as it will work across all strands of fundraising and providing accurate, targeted research to help shape our campaigns and approaches.
The Development Officer: Prospect Research will produce research profiles, briefing notes and due diligence reports for fundraisers, the Director of Development, IWM leadership team and Trustees. They will conduct proactive research into sector fundraising activity and trends, and support in the creation of fundraising pipelines.
This role is also responsible for overseeing the Raiser’s Edge NXT database, setting departmental policies and protocols, and delivering any relevant training.
Key duties
You will be expected to work independently as well as across different teams in order to contribute to and deliver the priorities of IWM - using your knowledge, skills, talent and potential to the best of your ability.
You will focus at all times on delivering excellent customer service, ensure value for money at all times while being professional, courteous and demonstrating the behaviours and attributes expected of all IWM employees. You will also adhere to all corporate standards, and use corporate systems as directed to ensure consistency of service, brand and operational standards.
You will be expected to work across departments effectively, working with individuals, partners and where appropriate volunteers.
To identify and implement learning and development needs for both yourself and your team, including volunteers, if appropriate.
In addition, your duties will include:
Research
Identify and research new supporters for IWM- Research current supporters and identify new fundraising opportunities
- Analyse wider sector trends and giving patterns
- Prepare detailed research profiles for IWM staff, Trustees and Volunteers
Briefings
Prepare meeting briefing notes for IWM staff, Trustees and Volunteers- Prepare due diligence reports on new and existing supporters
- Where relevant, provide specific briefings and presentations for IWM Boards and Committees
- Prepare concise and relevant guest profiles for IWM events
- Take minutes at all relevant department meetings.
Data Management
Shape Fundraising and Development Raiser’s Edge NXT processes and protocols- Assist the Department in constructing donor pipelines, reports and lists
- Ensure Raiser’s Edge NXT policies remain in line with data protection law
And additional ad hoc duties as required.
