Job description

To provide an efficient, reliable and responsive clerical and administrative service to the Diabetes Centre, including booking of clinics, clinic reception, daily administration tasks and patient services using computerized systems
  • To provide a welcoming and courteous front of house reception to the Diabetes Centre to ensure patients and visitors are treated in line with Trust expectations.
  • To provide an efficient, reliable and responsive patient administration service to the Diabetes Centre.
  • To provide and receive information orally, in writing or electronically to inform colleagues, patients, carers, relatives and the general public about appointments, clinics and events in the Diabetes Centre.
  • To be aware of the need for confidentiality and adhere to Trust policy.

  • To greet patients on arrival in the Diabetes Centre, ensuring all relevant notes and paperwork pertaining to the patient are available for the consultation.
  • To check patients details are correct on the patient appointment system..
  • Using the partial booking system to send out letters to new patient referrals, booking these appointments when patients contact the department. This includes sending out of all relevant forms, where requested, including pathology and x-ray to ensure results from tests are available for the consultation. To ensure that all patients are offered appropriate appointments within the government targets.
  • Booking of follow-up appointments for patients leaving the clinic.
  • Deal with telephone and postal enquiries relating to appointments.
  • To liaise with patients waiting in the reception area to inform them of any delays in clinics.
  • To comply with Trust policies and procedures relating to the post.
