Role Specific
· Operate the foundry die casting furnaces to heat aluminium ingots.
· Measure and maintain temperature of the furnaces.
· Treat molten aluminium through addition of additives and flux.
· Inspect die tooling for suitability for manufacture, cleaning and preparing as required.
· Heat required die tooling to required temperatures prior to manufacture.
· Transfer molten metal into pre-prepared die tooling through use of handheld ladles.
· Use site MRP system to track specific job requirements, (pouring temperatures, pour speeds, etc), and to book off quantities of castings manufactured.
· Prepare aluminium dabs and process these through the spectrometer for composition analysis, monitoring conformance of the results.
· Carry out tasks as assigned by the Foundry Supervisor and Operations Manager.
· Maintain adherence to the production schedule.
· Ensure manufacturing activities are carried out in a safe and compliant manner.
· Mentor new operators on production tasks, as required.
· Continuously ensure good working order of all tools, equipment, patterns, lighting, and premises.
· Responsible for ensuring all correct PPE is used for each relevant task.
· Maintain and ensure good housekeeping and organisation of the working areas.
· Escalate any concerns or queries directly to the Foundry Supervisor, Operations Manager, or site management team.
· Participate in any quality investigations resulting from non-conforming product or processes.
