Job description 1

We’re looking for a creative individual to develop our engagement approach across all our digital channels to our external and internal audiences.

You will have responsibility for the development of Wiltshire Police Digital Engagement strategies, and will be responsible for enhancing content and embedding best practice within the Wiltshire Police Corporate Communications and Engagement team.

You will use your excellent storytelling skills and digital expertise to shape how we can best illustrate the incredible work police officers, staff and volunteers are doing to keep Wiltshire safe.

In addition to driving the strategic ongoing development of our digital channels, you will also be our technical lead, managing and improving our website, intranet and Community Messaging platforms.

We’re looking for someone who shares our passion for public service and wants to continue to develop our dialogue with our communities across online platforms.

You will be responsible for;

  • Developing and delivering our Digital Engagement strategies
  • Overseeing the continued development of our website, working alongside the national Single Online Home team
  • Leading the development and implementation of our social media strategy to deliver against the Force priorities
  • Consistently managing and developing our channels – including our intranet (part of the MS O365 package), our Community Messaging platform, and our Corporate social media accounts.
  • Finding new and innovative ways to create content which better engages with our various audiences

Policing can be fast-paced and unpredictable, so we need someone who enjoys the challenge of working on long term projects as well as responding to an immediate requirement or major incident.

You will have experience in digital communications and creating content for online platforms, with a passion for engaging with people in the digital world.

You will be part of a small team of communication specialists who are dedicated to ensuring Wiltshire Police engage with our internal and external communities in the most meaningful way possible.

To apply for this role please submit your CV along with a covering letter (no longer than A4) which demonstrates experience against the following criteria:

  • Proven experience in using and maintaining web based content management systems and writing for the web and social media and use of Google Analytics
  • Developing and delivering corporate digital strategy
  • Ability to communicate complex information in a clear, concise manner to appeal to multiple online audiences

Shortlisting will take place by Wednesday 10 April 2024

Interviews will be held on Monday 15 and Thursday 18 April 2024.

The position is agile with the ‘normal place of work’ being Police HQ, Devizes. Agile workers also have flexibility to work from other stations within the Wiltshire force area or from home depending on demand and business requirement. More information can be provided via the Agile Working Guidance.

Please note that all candidates for positions at Wiltshire Police who are successful will be required to undertake and clear vetting before being formally offered a position.
