Digital Marketing Apprentice at NationalTrust for Scotland

Working Hours: 35 hours per week

Contract: 18 month Fixed Term

Salary: £21,132 pro-rata, per annum

Location: Edinburgh

Job purpose

The Audience & Support team exists to inspire visits to our places across Scotland, grow membership and drive donations to support our work. This role supports and delivers Digital Marketing activity to help the Audience & Support Directorate and the wider Trust achieve its key objectives. The development of this apprenticeship was supported by Museums Galleries Scotland.

This is the first time the National Trust for Scotland has offered an opportunity like this, and we’re excited to work with the right person to kickstart their Digital Marketing career.

Examples of the types of projects you’ll get involved in

  • Developing stories to attract new audiences
  • Learning about online behaviour through analytical tools
  • Creating email campaigns to encourage engagement with our charity
  • Showcasing our charitable work and archives in new and innovative ways

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Assist the Digital Marketing Manager in creating and delivering messages and campaigns through digital channels to help support the charity’s aims.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues across the charity to get ideas for content and assist with the charity’s projects.
  • Assist with creating, sending and reporting on email campaigns.
  • Develop skills in line with the SCQF Level 6 Diploma in Digital Marketing, including: All 27 credits for mandatory units, covering: Understanding the Business Environment; Understand Legal, Regulatory and Ethical Requirements in Sales or Marketing; Using Collaborative Technologies; Principles of Marketing and Evaluation; Develop own Professionalism; Digital Marketing Metrics and Analytics.
  • 38 credits from the optional modules, which must include modules in web analytics, email marketing and content management system (CMS) creation.

The current duties of this job do not require a criminal records (Disclosure Scotland) check to be carried out.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Participating in the SCQF Level 6 Diploma in Digital Marketing as part of this role.
  • National 5 (or equivalent) in English.

Experience

Essential

  • A proactive approach with problem solving skills.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
  • Demonstrable experience of our core values (brave, caring, curious, inclusive, vibrant).
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively in an environment of changing priorities.

Desirable

  • Interest in heritage and conservation.
  • Passion for digital technologies.

Dimensions and scope of job

People Management

  • No line management responsibility
  • Close working relationship with A&S, property teams and other Directorates
  • Work with Marketing agencies and external consultants as required
  • Post holder will be in regular contact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders

Training will be provided for all the below:

  • Microsoft Office systems including OneDrive, Teams, Excel
  • Email marketing automation platforms
  • Google Analytics platform
  • Meta ad platform
  • Affiliates software
  • SEO management software

Key performance indicators and targets

  • Contributes to key Customer & Cause KPIs including a range of brand metrics, as well as visitor, membership and fundraising targets
  • Completion of all coursework and assignments for SCQF Level 6 Diploma in Digital Marketing
