About the role
The Digital Marketing Operations Lead is a new temporary role that will work closely with digital, fundraising, marketing, creative and data teams to build a robust practice for key supporter journeys and touchpoints. This role will be focused on 3 primary areas:
- Rolling out new marketing and digital functionality in large and complex organisation – define and implement an operating model, develop training and guidance for staff and volunteers.
- Fundraising and event management – continuous improvement of our fundraising event platform to enable thousands of supporters every year to raise money for the RNLI. The events or activities can be anything from running in the London Marathon, putting on a bake sale, taking part in the RNLI May Day mile, or raising money for a Lifeboat station.
- Working with the Digital Experience Manager, Digital Platform Lead and Digital Performance Lead, you will also be an expert in defining how we deliver personalised supporter experiences across our digital touchpoints.
In your role, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of Marketing Operations on the platforms and touchpoints you are working on. This includes the process design and operating model. Once the tools are up and running, the focus will be on evolving, optimising the platforms, and training others to get the most out of them.
About you
You are a bit of an all-rounder that is obsessed with blending technology, data and process to create the best supporter journeys possible. You must portray a high comfort level and thrive working with marketing technology tools and want to connect them to other touchpoints or data sources to craft even better support experiences. You are comfortable collaborating with people from across the organisation: from fundraisers to data engineers.
You’ll have demonstrable experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Digital marketing, content management, CRM or other event or marketing journey workflow tools.
- Data and evidence driven decision making.
- Exceptional communication using a mix of diagrams, verbal and written comms.
- Facilitation and collaboration with technical and non-technical people.
- Working within a Digital Marketing, fundraising or tech product environment.
- Training staff or volunteers in digital skills.

(England & Wales; DBS check, Scotland; Disclosure Scotland PVG, Northern Ireland; Access NI, Republic of Ireland; Garda Vetting; International, International Child Protection Certificate process).
