Contract: Permanent, full-time
Location: Manchester City Centre (hybrid & flexible)
Salary: £33,600 - £38,559 DOE
Hours: Monday - Friday, office hours

Based in the heart of the City Centre and working with an established and growing transport business, this role offers a fantastic opportunity for a digital and Social Media professional. You will be required to undertake proactive and reactive digital communications activities, events and programmes implementing and delivering strategies and plans, taking a lead on all digital content systems and platforms. To ensure all such support services meet core corporate objectives, including the management and enhancement of the organisation's reputation and image.

The successful candidate will utilise technical knowledge in digital communications to resolve procedural queries from across the business, including help with design work. You will be expected to provide advice on a range of specialist policies and procedures. You will lead on the expansion and growth of our Social Media channels, creating content to further raise awareness of the work of the business.

Main Responsibilities of the Digital & Social Media Content Assistant:

You will probably have an interest in UK politics and politics in the North of England, and a passion for infrastructure or transport policy.

* Excellent written and oral communication skills for drafting briefings, reports, letters and other documents for internal and external use, and for internal and external events.
* Prepared to organise and manage events on behalf of the organisation, in particular our annual conference.
* Prepared to organise and attend events at Westminster and annual political party conferences.
* Able to manage competing short and long-term priorities effectively and systematically.
* Understanding of the current transport and related policy environments, or experience of working in the political, infrastructure or transport sectors.
* Experience of undertaking or managing research and / or analysis to enhance business performance and understanding of key issues.
* Be able to quickly understand and explain the links between Government policy changes and day-to-day operations.
* Good working knowledge of graphic design apps like Canva, and software like Microsoft Office including Work, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Desirable knowledge of Adobe products such as Photoshop and In-Design.
* Experience of undertaking political engagement and influencing work.
* Experience of managing and / or using stakeholder management systems.
* An understanding of the workings of the UK Parliament and central and local government.
* Experience of using Social Media and digital campaigning tools.
* Desirable to have video content creation and editing experience, as will be leading on production of external and internal video content for the organisation.

Essential requirements of the Digital & social Media Content Assistant:

* Educated to degree level and/or relevant professional qualification.
