Role: Dimensional Checking Supervisor:


Dimension Checker is required manage and control day-to-day checking of completed pipework in conjunction with fabrication, using industry best practice, assess the compliance of fabricated spools to the relevant quality standards and tolerances. You will report the results to the workshop manager and quality control lead and begin the non-conform procedures and mitigation processes if necessary. They are the front line supervisors with direct responsibility for putting people to work and will typically brief their workers on how to carry out their work and ensure that they are carrying out their work safely


Key Responsibilities:


Duties included within this role, but not limited to the following (Additional tasks may be given to DCE at the discretion of the FM/WBE, if deemed appropriate);


  • Prepare a daily report to the works manager (Spool Checking, Progress & Dimensional issues and delays)
  • Ability to prepare As-built drawings for final fabrication.
  • 5+ years’ experience in the pipe fabrication and a workshop environment
  • Ability to read and understand Isometric drawings, MTO’s and the ability to work from fabrication work-packs.
  • Knowledge of the latest Piping, Welding and Fabrication standards
  • Prepare inspection reports and photographic evidence for Dimensional Checking of fabricated spools within the FUD & WFUD documents
  • Compile results from the Dimensional Checking in accordance with the Final Fabrication inspection document BOP_FFI-1 from Piping Manager
  • Compilation and handover of the documentation of the fabrication process
  • Carryout all Dimensional Checking in-line with the clients procedures
  • Raise and prepare NCR’s and “Early Warnings” and advise WM/QCL of any significant delays during the fabrication phase.
  • Dimensional checker will play a key role in promoting health, safety, environmental and quality assurance of any contract.
  • They develop and implement the Safe Systems of Work that we use
  • Determine technical requirements to achieve objectives together with resource requirements.
  • Competent in Microsoft Excel, Word, Piping Manager (BET-Software package), share point, BET IMS for ISO 9001 and SAP.
  • Complete all Dimensional Checking within planning timescale window to maintain the contract KPI’s & OTIF’s
  • They have responsibility to check that adequate controls are in place to reduce risk to BUK

Experience:


  • Ability to operate “Piping Manager” software programme (Training will be given)
  • Ability to read and comprehend isometric drawings to the necessary standard.
  • Experience working in a supervisory role.
  • Experience working in a fabrication workshop
  • An understanding of the Quality management system and its operation.
  • An understanding of non-conformance procedures and mitigation exercises within the quality system.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Social competence, confident handling of blue-collar personnel, working with staff and customers
  • Good knowledge of MS-Office


Qualifications:


  • A Relevant trade certificate e.g. City and Guilds
  • Or You will need to be qualified to Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) NVQ Mechanical-Level 3
  • Preferably, you will also have an ISOH Managing Safety Cert.
