About the role
Reporting to the Vice-President Assistant General Counsel in Miami the Associate Director Counsel will manage and direct a variety of legal work focusing on drafting international commercial contracts advising on global trade partnerships promotions and marketing campaigns and provide consumer law and regulatory advice to several international cruise line travel brands
The ideal candidate will provide sound legal advice on corporate matters and work with external legal counsel to update executive leaders on new legislation and regulatory issues within the travel industry
You will build strong relationships with key stakeholders in our Miami HQ and with international business teams all international offices for all brands advising colleagues from Managing Director Vice-President level to new hires and trainees
Key Responsibilities
Drafting negotiating and reviewing commercial Agreements with RCG international trade partner and travel agency network; advising on joint ventures trade promotions supplier contracts consumer contracts- and negotiating a variety of travel industry legal Agreements Advising RCG on regulatory and corporate governance matters applicable to UK EU and international business activities
- Data Privacy and Package Travel Law experience is essential Proactively managing legal risk across all our brand operations and business functions and developing best practice and compliance guidelines for all aspects of our businessWorking closely with trade support marketing revenue management tax guest services and HR teams in UK EMEA APAC
- and ANZ offices as well as in our Miami Head Office Monitoring relevant IT and Travel Industry developments and undertaking ad-hoc legal research projects for management while working to a deadline
- Developing a precedent bank and implementing a legal training manual for Trade Support and Consumer Marketing teams and providing mentoring to two Assistant Counsel colleagues
All above responsibilities require ability to provide expert advice and opinion to Leadership and colleagues
Qualifications
- UK or EU qualified lawyer with strong academic background and minimum 10 years PQE
- Relevant in-house or law firm experience is preferred
- Comparative commercial law and Travel Industry knowledge is essential

- Office-based in an open plan office in Weybridge with flexi-working options
- Occasional travel or ship visits
- Experienced commercial lawyer in the travel or leisure industry working in a small legal team and liaising with Miami Legal Team for one of the world’s leading cruise lines
