At Cancer Research UK, we exist to beat cancer.

We are professionals with purpose, beating cancer every day. But we need to go much further and much faster. That's why we we're looking for someone talented, someone determined, someone like you.

What will I be doing?

Without any government funding, the Philanthropy & Partnerships Directorate plays a significant role in securing the donations Cancer Research UK needs to fund our vital research.

This is an exciting time to join the CRUK philanthropy team, as we prepare to launch an ambitious multi-million-pound fundraising campaign in 2024.

As part of the campaign team this role will coordinate and lead on the planning, delivery, and implementation of high-quality administration for the Major and Principal Gifts Programmes, within a comprehensive campaign model. This will include a focus on supporting effective working relationships with internal senior stakeholders and delivery teams to maximise opportunities and ensure the success of the Major Giving and Principal Gifts activities at CRUK.

Key duties include:

  • Work with Major Giving and Principal Giving teams to provide high-quality administration for all meetings. This includes drafting agendas, commissioning papers, collating and sending papers, taking minutes, and disseminating and monitoring actions from meetings.

  • Work with other internal and external Executive and Personal Assistants to ensure that gift activities are scheduled in a timely manner.

  • Provide administrative support for the frontline fundraisers including data management by adding information to and retrieving date from the donor database (Siebel). Working closely with Gift Associates, Fundraising Information and other colleagues to ensure all aspects of fundraising information and gifts are logged and appropriate processes are in place.

  • Support the fundraisers to provide timely and insightful updates on the progress of key gifts activity and ensure delivery against time, brief and budget.

  • Liaise regularly and form strong working relationships with other gift support team members; work together to improve best practices related to donors, including improved stewardship and gift acknowledgement practices, resolving gift restriction and recognition, helping to improve the accuracy of gift reporting, and development of the database and management information.

What skills are we looking for?

  • Previous administration experience

  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills

  • Proven ability to deliver to a high standard, consistently and with competing deadlines

  • Able to set and meet demanding deadlines, and to hold others accountable for delivery of projects/activity

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate with a range of audiences and levels

  • Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to problem solve

  • A self-starter, with the ability to work independently and proactively

  • Ability to manage own time and prioritise effectively

  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel
