Role Overview DCU are now seeking to recruit a Director ofResearch Support.  This is a senior role which reports directly to the Vice President for Research, with whom they will work closely to advance the University’s research strategy.  Three managers currently report to the post-holder, responsible ultimately for approximately 50 staff. The Director of DCU Research Support, will be responsible for leading the Research Support Services team, with primary responsibility for delivering professional Research Supports, which enable the university to significantly increase the scale of externally secured research funding.  DCU’s new strategic plan, has set out ambitious goals to further develop research activity, outputs and impact, over the next five years.  We expect to grow PhD numbers by 50%, published outputs by 30% and research income by over 20%.  The Director of DCU Research Support will lead a team to support academic staff in reaching these goals – by providing high-quality professional support for funding applications, by delivering a comprehensive research project administration service, and by managing and technically supporting the core technologies facilities – high-end ‘open access’ research equipment and facilities.      Qualifications and Experience Required A Masters or a Doctoral degree (NFQ Level 9 / 10) Experience at management level in a university Research Support environment, for a minimum of six years. Proven ability to motive and lead teams to achieve complex strategic objectives, with multiple stakeholders. Detailed knowledge of the Irish national and international research funding landscapes. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong experience of working with cross-institutional teams of peers to achieve objectives, without direct line management authority. Salary Scale: Professional 9 - €102,399 - €136,868 Appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in line with current Government pay policy.
