Full Time Director of Geography (and Eco Strategy)

Leadership Pay Scale: L3 – L7

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Director of Geography to lead an already thriving Geography team and the academy ‘Eco and Sustainability’ strategic plan. The successful candidate will be an expert in Geography, have a proven track record of successful outcomes, and will have the knowledge and skills to further develop a team of highly competent teachers. They will also be passionate about developing students’ knowledge and understanding of environmental issues and have a strong desire to ensure students actively protect our planet.

Ormiston Meridian Academy is a thriving secondary academy in the south of the city, serving 11-16 year old students. Our ambition statement is ‘Shaping Lives, Building Ambition and Igniting Futures’ and every decision we make and action we take is to ensure our students excel as young adults. Alongside our lessons, we provide a rich and diverse co-curricular programme that develops character and inspires our students. We all work together to instil a strong sense of belonging for all, which enables students to succeed and become active members of the community as they move into adulthood. Alongside this, we are active participants in Eco-Schools initiative winning several awards.

Geography at KS4 is hugely popular with a large take-up. Our Geography faculty work collaboratively and support one another brilliantly. There is an existing clear and strategic approach to curriculum, teaching and assessment procedures with detailed schemes of learning and lesson resources to support staff and students. The team also demonstrate a commitment to extra-curricular clubs and activities which the successful candidate would be expected to support and develop further.

If you do not have experience in middle leadership but believe leadership is for you, we are committed to the development of our middle leadership with a robust programme of CPD.
