We are looking to recruit a Director of Innovation for Easter Bush Campus.

The Opportunity:

The post holder will contribute to the development and be responsible for delivery of the Campus Innovation strategy; with key objectives being the creation of an innovation eco-system which fosters and supports commercialisation opportunities within one health approach to Animal bioscience, Agritech and Aquaculture (the 3A sector).

The post holder is responsible for the operational and financial sustainability of the Roslin Innovation Centre (RIC) including recruitment and retention of tenants, as well as managing innovation activities, which foster integration with the wider campus (in line with BBSRC Research and Innovation Campus strategy).

This role will accountable for all business planning and financial management of Roslin Innovation Centre and associated Innovation activities, including the creation of partnerships and securing funding opportunities in order to expand the follow-on space for our innovation tenants. Other duties will include negotiation of service level agreements, marketing and communication, space allocation, lease management, as well as ensuring the RIC branding covers all Campus Innovation activities.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time applications for a four day week post (30 hour per week).

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience, with a strong understanding of business development in a research environment. Experience with a one health approach to Animal biosciences, Agritech and Aquaculture is also desirable.
  • Proven experience of leading or contributing to the leadership of a science campus /innovation centre (or equivalent). Demonstrating development via involvement in progressively more demanding relevant work roles.
  • Excellent communication (both written and oral), with high level of problem solving, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Proven project and budget management skills
  • Experience of working independently, dealing with unforeseen circumstances and problems with confidence to work with multiple and changing priorities in a flexible way.
