Job description

Cardiff University is seeking a Director of International to realise the University’s global ambitions and lead an existing talented and motivated team of International professionals. Our new strategy, ‘our future, together’, outlines our desire to make a difference globally, to be more visible internationally and to participate in mutually beneficial, collaborative international partnerships. We want to be bold in our global ambitions, confident in celebrating the impact that we have across the world, and to collaborate with the best institutions internationally to address our future generations’ most complex challenges.   You will lead our internationalisation programme, initiating, coordinating and implementing University-wide initiatives that are underpinned by reciprocal partnerships across a wide range of existing and new partners. You will help to ensure that we embed global thinking across our research, teaching and civic mission activities and will be key to raising our profile internationally.  You will lead Cardiff in new areas of strategic activity, most notably transnational education. Your brief will cover international recruitment, partnerships, TNE, international student experience, international research, staff and student mobility, Study Abroad and summer schools.  You will report to the Director of Marketing, Communications and Student Recruitment and work closely with the Pro Vice-Chancellor International. As a senior member of the Communications and Marketing division, you will be key to delivering our new Target Operating Model, which will oversee the integration of several functions into a newly-expanded International Office. We have talented academic and professional services colleagues brimming with ideas to improve our international visibility and activity – you’ll work with them to harness that enthusiasm to put Cardiff on the map.   A passion for higher education and its potential to transform lives is key, as is recent experience leading international teams at a senior level, preferably within a higher education setting. You will need to be willing and available to undertake international travel as required.  This post is full time and open ended. Salary: The salary will be on the Professorial Salary pay scale and will be commensurate with the experience and achievements of the successful applicant. Closing date: Sunday, 21 July 2024 Please be aware that Cardiff University reserves the right to close this vacancy early should sufficient applications be received. Cardiff University is committed to supporting and promoting equality and diversity and to creating an inclusive working environment. We believe this can be achieved through attracting, developing, and retaining a diverse range of staff from many different backgrounds. We therefore welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of sex, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, trans identity, relationship status, religion or belief, caring responsibilities, or age. In supporting our employees to achieve a balance between their work and their personal lives, we will also consider proposals for flexible working or job share arrangements. Applications may be submitted in Welsh, and an application submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application submitted in English.
