Job description

DIRECTOR OF PEOPLE
Full Time, 35 Hours per week (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm)
Salary Range £60,000 to £65,000 per annum
Based at The Frances Hay Centre, Banbury with the possibility of hybrid working

Dogs for Good is growing and we have several new roles to help drive our ambitious strategy forward.  This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of Dogs for Good’s “One Team” culture with staff and volunteer colleagues. This is a new position at the charity that will suit a dynamic, curious and experienced leader.

Background
The charity has a staff team of 74 people, working in a number of locations; in addition, we work with around 650 volunteers in a variety of roles.  As we embark on our new strategy, our people resources are more important than ever, to give us the best possible chance of success. We are committing to developing the team – both staff and volunteers – to ensure that we have the right people, with the right skills and support to achieve our ambition.

This role will lead on all matters relating to people - both staff and volunteers – ensuring we develop a “One Team” culture of working confidently with both staff and volunteer colleagues and that we have the structures, development/training and support in place to deliver our needs.

About us
At Dogs for Good, we believe that dogs, and the bond we share with them, can help people lead happier, healthier and more independent lives. This is an exciting time to join the organisation as we embark on a bold, new strategy to move to a more community-led model, alongside a greater emphasis on training, education and advocacy.  Over the next five years, this will increase the impact in our three priority areas – improving the quality of life for People and dogs; increasing the understanding of the value of connection with a dog; and creating a more inclusive society.

About you
You will be experienced in people management in a complex organisation; and, ideally, have some experience of working with volunteers.  You will be a strong communicator, with some experience of change management and, of course, you will share our values and passion for the impact created by connection with a dog.

Salary - £60,000 - £65,000.  In addition we offer a range of great benefits, including 25 days annual leave, plus additional time off between Christmas and New Year (and not working your birthday!); a generous contributory pension scheme; and a great office environment, shared with our dogs, on the edge on Banbury.

To apply, please visit the Current Vacancies page on the Dogs for Good website where full application instructions can be found.

Recruitment timeline
Closing date for applications – midday, Monday 19 February
1st round interviews will take place virtually on Monday 4 March
