This role is subject to -

This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Performance, Research & Intelligence team. Our role is to ensure decision-makers in Manchester have the evidence and Intelligence they need to shape strategic and operational thinking and are able to demonstrate the impact of those choices on meeting the priorities of the Our Manchester Strategy and making lives better for everyone who lives in our city.

This role has a particular focus on data and Intelligence relating to children’s social care. Examples of the work the role will cover include supporting our social care teams to understand and develop their services to provide the best outcomes for our residents, providing the evidence to services that support our young people and producing the analytics that give senior leaders oversight of how the organisation is performing in delivering services to our residents. The role also supports with the submission of statutory returns and regional data collections. 

You will work alongside a large, diverse, multi-disciplinary team with a wide range of thematic areas and there are opportunities to work on cross-cutting projects and innovations. You will work with a team of people who are energised and passionate about Manchester and are driven to ensure that we are making the right connections and maximising the power of data and Intelligence to achieve the best outcomes for our residents and our city.

We're looking for someone with a passion for working with data and statistics and with experience of using a range of software and tools to extract, prepare, analyse and present complex data sets.

Ideally you will have a track record of being able to quickly understand and assimilate complex information and learn new subject areas.

You will be able to manage and analyse a range of complex data sources and ideally have experience of using both qualitative and quantitative methodologies.

You will have excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage your own time and work independently. 

You will have experience of extracting, cleansing and manipulating large datasets and building reports using software such as Business Objects and PowerBI. Experience of SQL would be beneficial.

You will have experience of working with spreadsheets such as MS Excel and possess excellent communication skills. 

You will be able to work and build relationships with a wide range of people within PRI as well as within the services the role supports.

You will  be someone who is interested in innovations in data science, emerging new technology and keeping informed about the latest research and emerging intelligence particularly around children’s social care.

You will be supported to develop your skills and knowledge across a range of areas such as automating processes, statistical methods, analytics, research methods, evaluation, all within one of the leading Local Authority performance and research teams in the country. We will provide opportunities to work with a range of people with different expertise within PRI as well as across Children's Services and other teams in the Council.
