Job Title:Disability Casual Sports Coach

Department: Disabilities

Reports to: Disability Project Manager (Specialist Support)

Responsible for: Delivery of disability sports sessions throughout the week, including Saturdays.

Salary: £12.55 – 15.45 per hour (depending on qualifications/experience)

Brentford FC Community Sports Trust

With community work spanning three decades, Brentford FC Community Sports Trust has established itself as a pioneering organisation for the local community. It uses the power of sport to educate, motivate and inspire people from all walks of life.

Working in partnership with Brentford FC, the Trust offers a portfolio of programmes in education, health, sports participation and community engagement. The Trust has won the ‘Football League Community Club of the Year’ award four times and now employs more than 100 members of staff. The Trust is forecasting further significant expansion over the next two years following its appointment as a key partner in the redevelopment of Gunnersbury Park [as a sports hub], and its move to new, larger, purpose-built premises directly adjacent to the new Brentford FC 17,500 capacity stadium near Kew Bridge in 2021.

General Trust Accountabilities

Main Purpose of Job

Brentford FC CST is looking for enthusiastic, dedicated, and ambitious coaches to join our team, to lead or assist with delivery of sports sessions across our range of Disability Programmes, during term-time, school holidays, and at weekends (we are especially looking for coaches who are available on Saturday mornings / early afternoons).

This will include working with young people with various disabilities, particularly those with Autism, ADHD, Learning Difficulties, Deaf/Hard of Hearing.

Sessions will take place at various locations across West London, but especially in the boroughs of Hounslow, Ealing, and Richmond.

Specialist disability training will be made available to successful candidates.

Responsibilities

  • To work with other sessional staff to ensure all sessions are delivered to a high standard, including planning and delivery.
  • Ensuring all sessions are delivered in compliance with BFCCST policies regarding Safeguarding, Risk Assessments, Health and Safety, Incidents/Accidents, First Aid, GDPR.
  • Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of fellow employees and participants at all times, whilst sessions are taking place.
  • Using knowledge of specific needs / disabilities of participants to recognise potential safeguarding concerns that need to be reported, following BFCCST safeguarding procedures.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns promptly to the appropriate authorities or designated personnel.

  • Disability Projects Manager (Specialist Support)
  • Disability Projects Manager (Strategy & Participation)

Key External Relationships

  • Local partners (charities/organisations), that some sessions are delivered in partnership with.

The Selection Criteria Essential

  • Minimum Level 1 Coaching Qualification in at least one sport
  • Safeguarding Certificate
  • Emergency First Aid Certificate
  • Current DBS certificate

Desirable:

  • Experience of working with children and young people with disabilities, especially some of those listed above.
  • Driving licence & car (candidate will need to bring equipment to and from sessions).

Personal Qualities:

  • Enthusiastic, strong work ethic.
  • Friendly, personable, approachable.
  • Good timekeeping.
  • Willingness to continue to learn and improve as a coach.
  • Willingness to increase knowledge of how to work effectively with young people with disabilities.
