Manchester Equipment & Adaptation Service (MEAP) is seeking to recruit a Disabled Facilities Grant Co-ordinator to work within their technical team. This is an extremely busy team and deals with the assessment of applicants for provision of complex equipment and major adaptations, Moving and Handling risk assessments and the assessment for and provision of Blue Badges (parking concessions for disabled and blind people).
The provision of appropriate adaptations to disabled and older people can enhance independence, prevent falls and hospital admissions and reduce reliance on care services maximising customer independence to enable the customer to achieve maximum health and well-being. The aim is to offer a comprehensive, coordinated and streamlined service to our customers.
This post offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a vital service in the integration of health and social care. The Disabled Facilities Grant Co-ordinator supports the approvals and payments of grants to Owner Occupiers and Private Tenants enabling them to have adaptations which keep them independent and in their own homes. They lead a team of visiting officers who complete the necessary applications and provide welfare rights advice where applicable. The role holder will manage and coordinate the administrative function across the provision of both minor and major adaptations and lift servicing and maintenance thus enabling timely and professional support across the service as a whole.
The role holder should have experience of working in an advisory/visitor role with up to date knowledge of the Benefits system.
Experience of management accounting, being able to provide forecasts, budget comparisons and dealing with variances. Experience of financial accounting, providing statements, dealing with invoices, knowledge of financial systems is desirable.
The role holder must also be have a full driving licence and have access to a car.
