Job description

Disrepair Surveyor

Up to £40,000 per annum (plus £2,600 car allowance - non-contractual)

Hybrid - Midlands / East of England with travel across our geography as required

Permanent, Full Time

Are you currently a Surveyor working in the Housing Sector, or from a construction or trades background and looking for an exciting new role within an organisation committed to improving lives? If so, our Disrepairs Surveyor role could be the perfect job for you…

Longhurst Group is a leading housing Group across the Midlands & East of England, committed to enhancing communities and improving the lives of both our colleagues and customers. With a mission to provide quality, safe, affordable housing that build great foundations for our customers, our Property Services team are critical to ensuring quality homes are provided to our customers and repairs are undertaken swiftly, to a good standard.

As a Disrepairs Surveyor at Longhurst Group, you will play a crucial role in helping to defend disrepair allegations where applicable and be responsible for identifying actionable defects within a property and preparing detailed repair reports.  You will contribute to ensuring the delivery of a customer focused, effective and value for money service.

Further key responsibilities are listed below:

  • Carry out disrepair inspections and prepare reports.

  • Carry out inspections of works in our homes to monitor quality standards and ensure that any follow up work is satisfactorily completed.

  • Ensure that all IT systems are updated efficiently and in accordance with the requirements of the contract and agreed processes.

  • Ensure that customers are completely satisfied with all works in their homes and any complaints are managed thoroughly.

  • Have a thorough understanding of complex repairs such as disrepair claims, insurance claims, structural issues, asbestos awareness, and drainage surveys.

In order to be successful in application for our Disrepairs Surveyor role, you’ll need a proven knowledge of surveying properties, preventative maintenance, and ability to examine the condition of buildings, with a view to identifying a route cause issue.

Our Disrepairs Surveyor role operates in a hybrid capacity, contracted to 36.25 hours per week. To us, this means spending time with our customers across our geography (Midlands / East of England), with some time working from home (subject to business needs - we are open to discussion around how this is built into working weeks).

This is a hugely exciting time to join Longhurst Group – not only are we continuously striving to achieve better results for our customers, but the Social Housing sector is at a crucial point with new measures, legislations and standards coming into effect imminently. Our Disrepair Surveyor opportunity is a fantastic chance for an existing or Trainee Surveyor to diversify their knowledge within the Housing / Surveying sector. In applying for this role you will have an opportunity to both support our customers, whilst evidencing unfounded disrepair claims made against the Group.
