Disrepair Surveyor

Location: Oldham

Temporary to permanent contract

Sellick Partnership are supporting a client with the recruitment of a Disrepair Surveyor to join their team on a temporary or temporary to permanent contract.

The purpose of the Disrepair Surveyor is to act as the Lead Officer and Expert Witness in determining legal liability and defending the client on allocated cases.

You will work in conjunction with the Surveying Manager to lead and manage on designated specialist areas of work keeping within financial restraints and budgets, i.e. Service Level Agreements & structural referrals

Key Responsibilities of the Disrepair Surveyor will include:

  • To undertake comprehensive diagnostic building surveys and inspections with the Plaintiff's Surveying / Structural / Legal Expert(s) in order to establish and negotiate the extent of liability, costs and repairing obligations, and sometimes as instructed by the courts.
  • To undertake detailed surveying / technical inspections which require a high level of diagnostic investigations and testing to ensure accurate work specifications in compliance with current legislation, BRE standards, professional guidelines and best practice.
  • The development and justification of alternative and non-standard technical solutions to complex problems, where prescriptive solutions may be inappropriate.
  • Assessment of basic structural, thermal and drainage engineering calculations/designs.
  • To ensure compliance with all guidance notes, budgets, procedures and timescale requirements relating to legal cases and when necessary
  • Carry out and report hazard identification / risk assessment as necessary.
  • Ensuring the quantities and charges have been correctly applied in accordance with the contract "Schedule of Rates".

The successful Disrepair Surveyor will have:

  • The post holder will have a minimum of 5 years experience in the construction industry of which a minimum of 3 years must be directly related experience in building surveying
  • Qualified to a minimum of HNC / HND level in construction
  • Full valid UK driving licence
