Role Summary
As a Distribution Centre Operative, you will be responsible for picking, loading, and stacking boxes as well as putting away heavy items using a mobile scanner and pallet trucks.
This is an active role with heavy lifting and all tasks must be accomplished while maintaining high standards of safety from the initiation of the operation to its completion.
Duties and Responsibilities
Include but not limited to:
OPERATIONAL
- Reporting to the Distribution Centre shift lead you will play a key part in the day-to-day smooth running of the Distribution Centre including being involved in stock checks.
- Careful loading, unloading, and general movement of heavy goods including sofas.
- Movement of pallets where required.
- Receive and sort customer returns.
- Ensure the top and drop is completed daily.
- Picking goods to appropriate order specifications ready for shipping
- Labelling goods as required.
- Ensure all activities are carried out in a manner that will ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure all materials are scanned into and out of locations in line with company procedures to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Ensure all materials are handled in a manner that protects their quality
- Use of forklifts
- Attending all Toolbox Talks and Safety Meetings when required to do so.
- Report any unsafe acts or incidents however small to the shift lead.
- Take care of yourself and those around you
- Ensuring that the work area is always clean and tidy.
- Ensure any documentation requirements are adhered to
- Ensure any computer systems are operated in line with IT Usage Policy
- Regularly contribute to continuous improvement activities
HSE
Be familiar with all the company’s policies and procedures associated with safe vehicle operation, including but not limited to:
- Mandatory use of correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Knowledge of emergency procedures
- Use of emergency equipment
- Safe lifting and loading procedures.
- Ensure adherence to Furniturebox HSE Policies and Procedure
What do we need from you?
- Forklift truck license is an advantage but a willingness to gain a license is key.
- Experience in operating and using a wide range of tools and machinery would be advantageous
- Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Attention to detail.
- Good understanding/experience working with extensive warehouse management systems.
- Team player
- Customer focussed.
- Polite and professional manner
- The candidate will be proactive and have a flexible approach to work.
