We're the largest port operator in the United Kingdom, operating 21 ports around the country, split into 3 distinct regions - the largest, by number of Ports, being our Wales & Short Sea Ports region. This is a 16 port portfolio, ranging from East Anglia, the North West & Scotland and Wales & South West. Due to an internal promotion, we're currently looking to replace our Engineering Programme Manager in the Wales & South West region and we’re looking for candidates who live in South Wales or the Bristol area. The role is responsible for managing a team of Project Engineers and overseeing a portfolio of live projects valued at around £50m per annum (with a further £50m spend and involvement tied to projects within the region but sat with our Major Projects team). You'll need to have practical project delivery of engineering infrastructure projects to include Marine, Civils, Mechanical and Electrical.

 

You should have experience of manging a portfolio of multi-discipline engineering projects ideally covering Civils, Electrical and Marine. You should have strong Project Management skills ideally with APM certification (or in process) or Prince2 and have demonstrable experience of leading and mentoring a team of Project Engineers.

Key Accountabilities
•    Safe, compliant and successful execution of the project pipeline
•    Lead internal and external stakeholder engagement to ensure alignment across all external bodies and internal parties
•    Chair the Wales and South-West project portfolio review meetings ensuring sufficient resource is applied in or to deliver success 
•    Ensure project portfolio visibility (time, quality, cost), developing procurement strategies and project execution synergies
•    Ensure alignment with group process and other senior project management colleagues across ABP.
•    Mentor, coach and develop the project team and wider business

 

Required Skills and Experience
•    Significant post qualification Project Management experience in an asset intensive industry.
•    Educated to graduate degree level with relevant professional qualifications/professional body membership.
•    Proven track record of managing the delivery of projects across all aspects of the project lifecycle.
•    Knowledge and experience of project management governance systems and continuous. improvement in a regulated and/or safety critical industry.
•    Experience of managing a portfolio of projects across a diverse and wide geographical area.
•    Technical background, ideally Chartered status, in Civil or Maine engineering - beneficial but not essential.
