Role:Care Assistant

Reporting To: Registered Manager

Hours of Work: Flexible on a Zero Hour Contract

Hourly Rate of Pay: £11.30 – £22.60

Location: Oxford

We don’t just care for the elderly, but also those who have been injured, are receiving rehabilitation or have long term ailments. We are a flexible care provider that look to meet the changing needs of our clients with safeguarding, independence, dignity and respect at the heart of everything we do.

Main Duties:

  • Getting the client up in the morning, dressing, undressing, and washing. Bathing and taking the client to the toilet where necessary.
  • Assisting with mobility problems and other physical disabilities.
  • Assisting with incontinence and help in use and care of aids and personal equipment.
  • The promotion of mental and physical activity through talking, taking them out; and encouraging and engaging in activities, hobbies and recreation.
  • Changing beds, tidying rooms, light cleaning and emptying commodes. Laundering clothing.
  • Setting tables and trays, preparing light meals, serving meals, and feeding clients who require assistance.
  • Tidying and clearing away.
  • Reading and writing full client care notes on our Pass system.
  • Documenting each visit on Pass, detailing tasks undertaken, any changes which have occurred and other relevant information.
  • Clearly showing accurate times of arrival and departure, with accompanying QR code logging in/out.
  • Maintaining accurate, concise, up-to-date and timely records of the clients care on Pass, medication forms, financial transaction sheets and mileage forms.
  • To conform to all policies, procedures and guidelines laid down by Enable Health Ltd in respect of carrying out these care duties and in other administrative aspects of the business, as relevant
  • To be available to work as agreed with the Registered Manager on an availability sheet, giving 4 weeks’ notice on all changes.
  • To carry out accurately, and in a competent manner, instructions from managers and senior carers, adhering to the Care Plans of individual clients.
  • To actively talk and listen to clients, allowing for their personal choice in their own home.
  • To ensure all home visits are for the time allowed, as scheduled and using the QR Code on Pass to login at the start and end of each visit, showing accurate time of arrival and departure.
  • To read the clients full care plan, adhere to the plan and write full, detailed notes on the Pass system of care administered.
  • To be considerate in respect of written comments on Pass so as not to unduly or unintentionally offend or upset the client as they and their family/representatives are entitled to read it
  • To report and record any accident or incident which may occur, no matter how minor, whether to the client or carer.
  • To report back to the Registered Manager or senior carer on any aspect of the carer’s care which warrants investigation or urgent action.
  • To report immediately to the Registered Manager any noticeable changes in health, behaviour or circumstances of clients, whilst maintaining the clients right to privacy and confidentiality.
  • To advise supervisors and/or managers of any ideas which might enhance or improve the quality of service delivered to client.
  • To provide a dignified and respectful palliative care service.
  • To take part in staff meetings and training activities as directed.
  • To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.

Knowledge and Expertise – Desirable:

  • General care experience and/or a willingness to learn the role of a Care Assistant (full training will be given).
  • Experience in caring for clients in their own home.
  • Diploma or equivalent in Health and Social Care.
  • Valid driving licence and own car.

Knowledge and Expertise – Essential:

  • Clear enhanced DBS check.
  • Ability to read, understand and complete comprehensive care notes on our system – Pass.
  • Ability to work in a team and on your own.
