Job description

Our client is a leading global CDMO at the forefront of innovation in biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing based in the east Anglia area.

They are currently seeking to recruit an experienced Downstream Scientist to join their multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will play a key role in downstream processing development across multiple product types. the Downstream Scientist will collaborate with technical leads and multidisciplinary teams to drive scientific process development and deliver optimal solutions for assigned development programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead scientific process development efforts, collaborating with technical leads and cross-functional teams to determine the most effective technical and scientific approaches for development programs.
  • Support the scoping and development of required analytics methods to ensure robust characterization of downstream processes.
  • Provide recognized scientific and technical expertise to support business objectives.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams, supporting business development activities and engaging closely with Project Management to ensure alignment and successful execution of projects.

Education and Experience

  • Extensive downstream development processing experience within the field of microbial protein and/or virus product development, ideally with a PhD or MSc qualification.
  • Broad knowledge of bioprocessing, with the ability to confidently interpret data, draw scientifically sound conclusions, and effectively communicate findings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision, taking ownership of scientific direction and driving projects forward.
  • Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment and solve complex problems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a track record of publishing work in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
