Job description

Are you looking to develop an interesting and rewarding career in an ambitious city?  Are you, highly motivated, professional and friendly?  We are looking for 7 experienced Driver Labourers.  3 positions are in our Day to Day Repairs team, 3 in our Voids Team and 1 in our Materials Hub team.

About You:

You will be part of the busy Estates or Employment and Logistics teams within our Housing Operations Service that carry out repairs, maintenance and project work to over 16,500 council owned properties throughout our estates across the city.  Your duties will include; 

  • Delivering materials, plant and equipment
  • Removing trade waste
  • Providing second person assistance to trades when required
  • Other labouring duties
  • Erecting and dismantling Tower Scaffolds
  • Carrying out cleans to Void properties

Experience and knowledge in this field is a must. 

You will need a full clean driving licence in order to drive our vehicles and will also be required to undergo a DBS check as part of the pre-employment checks. 

As the work is varied a flexible approach is required to meet changing needs and tight deadlines. Excellent customer service skills, enthusiasm, and a ‘can do’ attitude is all essential as you’ll be our ambassador when you visit our customers’ homes to deliver materials and assist in carrying out repairs and installations to the highest of standards.  You will liaise with residents, peers and colleagues on a daily basis so communication and customer focus will be essential to the role. Organisational, customer service, time management and physical skills are key to this role.

You will work a 37-hour week plus an additional 2 hours TOIL (Time Off in Lieu). The TOIL equates to 12 days annual leave year, in addition to your basic entitlement of 25 days annual leave per year (not including bank holidays).  This leave increases to 29 days after you have completed 5 years of continuous service. Other employee benefits range from childcare vouchers and discounted travel to money off at selected restaurants, shops and salons.

  • The working hours for this role are 37 hours plus 2 hours toil per week
  • This is a permanent position.   
  • Please note that appointments are usually made at the bottom of the salary scale.
  • This post requires a DBS check.
