Join Our Team as a Drug and Alcohol Intervention Worker with Pembrokeshire County Council!


Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of individuals struggling with Drug and Alcohol dependence? Pembrokeshire County Council is seeking a dedicated individual to join our dynamic team and play a vital role in providing support and interventions to those in need.


As a Drug and Alcohol Intervention Worker, you'll have the opportunity to:


  • Assist individuals in preparing for residential rehabilitation periods.
  • Work directly with adults and parents at risk, providing evidence-based interventions and support.
  • Implement specific tasks outlined in care and support plans to promote better outcomes for clients.
  • Respond to crisis situations and occasionally provide support outside of normal working hours.
  • Create a supportive environment to help individuals manage emotional well-being without resorting to substance use.

In addition to these responsibilities, you'll collaborate with social workers to:


  • Conduct risk assessments and provide accurate reports.
  • Contribute to social work assessments and multi-agency meetings.
  • Support individuals in managing their homes, health, hygiene, and personal finances.
  • Build knowledge in areas such as substance misuse and domestic abuse to better support clients.

Qualifications & Skills:


  • NVQ3 or above in Social Care (or willingness to work toward it).
  • Experience in working with individuals facing addiction.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multi-agency team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a car.
  • Commitment to anti-oppressive practice.
