The Governors of Aberdare Community School are seeking to appoint a dedicated and hardworking technician to join the Design Technology department to support the teaching of construction, materials and engineering technology.
This post represents an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join a thriving department and to work with a very supportive team, housed in exceptional, state of the art facilities. The role of technician is vital to supporting the learners by setting up classrooms prior to lessons, and where required assist learners during lessons to enable them to make progress safely.
The department is extremely keen to provide learners with as many practical opportunities as possible and as such the successful candidate will be required to prepare wood, metals, plastics, and other resources as required for learners to work with.
There will be a requirement to carry out daily, weekly and monthly checks on a wide range of equipment from handheld tools, to state of the art laser cutters and milling machines. This will be a very hands-on role where training will be provided if required.

The school opened in the summer of 2015 and is part of the 21st Century school building programme. The school is attached to the Sobell Leisure Centre which offers extensive opportunities for pupils, including an all-weather playing facility and newly opened athletics stadium.
