Job Description

What you’ll do

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Early Careers Assistant to join our Exeter office on a permanent basis. You’ll be supporting the Talent Attraction team to recruit, train and retain top talent in the Early Careers space; and ensure the end to end delivery of a first-class graduate programme and recruitment campaign.

In this role, you will be supporting with all aspects of the graduate recruitment campaign, including application screening and the organisation of summer schemes and assessment centres. You will also be a key contact for knowledge and an ambassador for the graduate programme, supporting the Talent Attraction Manager in promoting new qualification pathways available to Trainee Solicitors. You will manage the administration of the Trainee Solicitor qualification and seat move processes, working with the firm’s Training Principal and Head of Departments to identify newly qualified Solicitor vacancies and trainee resourcing needs. You will be a key contact for the Trainee Solicitors during their time at the firm, monitoring the progress of their training, whilst supporting and empowering them to achieve their goals and objectives.

In support of the Talent Attraction team, you will help to create content for and facilitate the delivery of the firm’s graduate marketing campaigns and events. We also run lots of activities for school leavers and you will have the opportunity to assist with the organisation of the firm’s work experience programmes and the delivery of Apprentice development initiatives, including induction weeks. Our Trainee Solicitor induction week is also integral to their successful start at Ashfords and you will lead on scheduling the induction sessions and presentations, as well ensuring everything runs smoothly on the week itself.

For anyone looking for that next step in a career in HR or recruitment, this is a fantastic, varied role, with plenty of opportunity to make a difference to our business.

Who you are

You'll be an enthusiastic, well-organised self-starter who enjoys working within a busy team, as well as independently; and will demonstrate an ability to respond to the needs of the business, acting professionally and ethically to protect the confidentiality of the firm and its people.

You may already be working in an administrative or assistant capacity within a professional services environment; and have the confidence and drive to support and deliver initiatives across the firm and to potential employees. As a credible and curious individual, you are able to generate creative and workable solutions and work that is of a high standard.

As a strong team player with a positive, can-do attitude, you will possess excellent interpersonal skills and a flair for building effective working relationships across all levels. You will have the ability to be responsive to the commercial needs of the business and use initiative to effectively manage workload, deadlines and co-ordination of activities; remaining calm under pressure.

Why join Team Ashfords?

Ask our people, and they will tell you that they genuinely enjoy coming to work and spending time with their colleagues.

We’re confident that once you discover our open and friendly culture, it won’t take long for you to feel the same.

We have a genuine team approach at Ashfords because we know that when talented people work together, we achieve more for our clients and each other.

We also recognise that each of our career journeys is unique. So, we will be ambitious for you and give you the support you need to develop your career, your way.

Importantly, we will give you the space and flexibility for your life outside work too.

Our goal? To help you realise your full potential as part of a forward-thinking team and business.

That’s what sets us apart.

Our offer

We offer a range of benefits to support you at work and at home.

This includes a flexible working framework, extra annual leave for your birthday and the option to buy more holiday.

We have a comprehensive package to support physical and mental health including onsite yoga classes and a gym at our head office, healthcare plans, an Employee Assistance programme and free access to the Headspace mindfulness app.

You’ll also have the chance to get involved in our responsible business programme, including fundraising initiatives through the Ashfords Foundation and bringing your energy to our environment or diversity groups.
