An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the University of Birmingham Cancer Research UK Clinical Trials Unit (CRCTU) Nursing Team. We have a full-time role along with an 80% part-time role (please specify which role you are applying for on the application form). This specialist Clinical Research Nurse role is to support the delivery of Early Phase clinical trials within the CRCTU Nursing Team. Focusing on the growing portfolio of Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre (ECMC) Early Phase Oncology Clinical trials, both commercial and investigator led. Becoming a Clinical Research Nurse is an exciting and developing speciality and you will be supported in your role to reach your potential.
We are looking for Registered Nurses (adult) who can perform the following skills:
- Ability to manage the delivery of direct and indirect patient care and safe nursing practices for a specific group of patients taking part in predominantly phase I/II clinical trials
- Excellent team working skills to work alongside a multidisciplinary team to identify, recruit and manage the patient’s pathway on an oncology trial
- Collecting trial data and safety monitoring of oncology patients on Early Phase clinical trials
- Administering SACT treatments, competence and experience would be preferred but training can be given. The post holder would be expected to administer novel drugs and collection of Pharmacokinetic sampling as per the requirements of the study protocol
- Ability to communicate with patients and their families to assess their needs and act as a patient advocate providing support, information and education where needed
- Attention to detail and high standards of accuracy
Required Qualifications:
- First level Registered General Nurse (adult) with relevant oncology experience
- Clinical Research experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be offered
- Committed and motivated individual
