Job Title: Early Years (0-7) Speech, Language Communication and Autism Specialist Advisory Teacher
Location: Hybrid model with an office base at Farnham House Stevenage but covering North Herts and Stevenage, therefore the need for a driving licence and access to a vehicle is required.
Starting Salary: MPS/UPS Hertfordshire Pay Scales £28,000 progressing to £48,685 pa
Hours: 32.5 hours a week Term Time Only
Contract: Permanent

Job Duties:

Would you like an opportunity to use your specialist knowledge of speech, language communication and autism to support Hertfordshire in delivering better outcomes for Early Years children with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

Integrated Services for Learning is a multi-disciplinary service comprising of SEND Specialist Advice and Support services, Access & Inclusion Services, Educational Psychologists and Statutory services.

Within the service, there is a vacancy for an Early Years (0-7) Advisory Teacher with a Speech, Language, Communication and Autism specialism.

This role is supporting across a range of Early Years settings and schools to provide specialist advice for children (aged 0-7) with autism and/or Speech, language and communication needs.

A key function of ISL SEND Specialist Advice and Support Services (SENDSAS) is to ensure that the educational and developmental progress of children and young people (0-25), with a range of SEND, is met in line with the Hertfordshire Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Strategy and Children’s Services strategic objectives.

Holding a caseload of children with autism or SLCN from age 0-7, you will be offering schools and settings specialist advice and training to support their needs.

This role will see you working collaboratively with the Delivering Special Provision Locally (DSPL) Partnerships and other colleagues both within and outside ISL to promote early intervention, assessment and excellent inclusive practice.

In this role you will be part of a very supportive team of Specialist Advisory Teachers, whereby you will have regular supervisions and training opportunities given.

Essential:

  • Educated to degree level and hold Qualified Teacher Status
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle in order to travel independently
  • In-depth knowledge, specialist skills and understanding of best practice in relation to meeting the needs of children with SEND in the area of speech, language, communication and autism
  • Minimum five years relevant and successful Early Years teaching experience
  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable

  • Hold relevant additional qualification in a specialist area e.g. Early Years SEND, Autism, SLCN, National SENCO Award etc.
