Early Years Educator Apprenticeship:

Little Ladybirds, a private Early Years setting within the grounds of Northwood Primary School, are looking for a positive, lively individual to join their team and provide quality education and support to the children within, whilst also providing a fantastic opportunity to further your own learning and gain qualifications. The role will require you to complete a range of duties such as supporting the children’s development with learning and play, being a role model to the children, ensuring that safeguarding procedures are followed as well as providing support for the children’s emotional and social needs.

Previous qualifications or experience within a child centred environment would be preferrable as you would be working towards the Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship.

Duties/Responsibilities:

The following are the core responsibilities of this job role, occasionally you may be required to carry out other tasks dependant on factors such as workload and staffing levels:

  • Creating a purposeful and stimulating environment for the children that is rich in learning opportunities, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Promote the health, safety and well-being of the children.
  • Support the children’s development, learning and play.
  • To be a role model and be able to showcase high quality practice with regards to individual and group work with children. 
  • To provide a service that respects children’s life experiences and celebrates diversity.
  • To ensure that safeguarding procedures are followed in line with Local Authority and Company procedures. 
  • To create a happy, welcoming atmosphere within the setting for all that attend.
  • To work effectively as a part of a team. Communication skills are essential

Desired Qualifications:

GCSE level Maths and English Level 4 or above

Level 2 in Childcare & Education or equivalent course (relevant work experience may be taken into account)

Desired Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • An understanding of Child Development
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding legislation and early intervention
  • Effective time management (Planning & Organising)
  • Ability to work as a team member as well as individually
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Problem solving & analytical skills

Training Provided:

The successful candidate will be working towards the Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship.

Candidates will need to have achieved maths and English at GCSE or equivalent Grades A-C (9-4) or Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English before completing the qualification.

Off the job training will be provided, where you will have the time to complete your portfolio work, attend off job training seminars and have allocated time for mentoring and being shadowed.

Expected Apprenticeship Duration:

20 Months

Hourly Wage:

National Apprenticeship Wage for the first 12 months (£5.28p/h rising to £6.40p/h from 1st April 2024)

30 Hours a week

Progression:

Potential to move to Full Time Employment

Other training courses will be available to you should you wish to continue your progression
