Job description

We are looking for a friendly, motivated and ambitious individual to join our small team at Chapeltown Community Nursery. As a charity-based organisation at the hub of our local community, the successful applicant will have a dedication to helping others and making a positive contribution to their lives.

The duties of the role will include, but not be limited to:

  • To provide a range of stimulating activities and an attractive environment for children (individually and in groups), aged between 20 months and 5 years
  • To work with staff to plan and carry out activities that support and aid progression for individuals or groups of children in their development, learning, behaviour and skills
  • To support and encourage young children in being confident, independent, self-motivated and eager to learn
  • To safeguard children and report any injuries that give cause for concern following LSCP (Leeds Safeguarding Children Partnership) guidelines
  • To keep accurate records/observations of children’s development, progress and interests in line with the EYFS
  • To liaise with and communicate effectively with parents and carers, colleagues and other professionals as appropriate
  • To treat information relating to your work at the nursery as confidential
  • To ensure that children receive medical attention as necessary and that any medication required is administered in accordance with the nursery’s policy
  • To be responsible for children on outings and during evacuation procedures of the building
  • To attend staff meetings and participate in training and self-development activities as required
  • To support the nursery in its charitable objectives where appropriate, helping to develop opportunities in line with our core objectives concerning play, care and the local community including supporting the delivery of nursery based projects and activity programmes.
