Job description

Job Summary: As an Early Years Practitioner/Nursery Staff member, you will be responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for young children in a nursery or Early Years setting. Your primary focus will be on the well-being, development, and education of children aged 0-5 years. You will work collaboratively with other staff members, parents, and caregivers to ensure the best possible care and support for each child.
(Must have previous experience working with children under the age of 5)

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Child Care and Supervision:

Provide attentive and high-quality care to children, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Supervise and engage with children during playtime, meals, and rest periods.

Foster positive relationships with children to support their emotional and social development.

  1. Early Childhood Education:

Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development.

Create a stimulating learning environment that encourages exploration and curiosity.

Integrate educational games, storytelling, and creative activities into daily routines.

  1. Communication:

Maintain effective communication with parents, guardians, and caregivers.

Provide regular updates on a child's progress, development, and any notable incidents.

Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistent care and a unified approach to child development.

  1. Health and Safety:

Follow health and safety protocols to ensure a secure environment for children.

Administer basic first aid when necessary and report any incidents or concerns to the appropriate authorities.

Conduct regular safety checks on toys, equipment, and facilities.

  1. Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate records of children's activities, progress, and any relevant information.

Complete daily reports and share observations with parents to encourage open communication.

  1. Professional Development:

Stay informed about current early childhood education trends and best practices.

Attend training sessions, workshops, and meetings to enhance professional knowledge and skills.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Minimum of a relevant qualification in Early Childhood Education or a related field.

Experience working with children in a nursery or Early Years setting.

Knowledge of child development theories and best practices.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for working with young children.

Working Conditions:

Typically works indoors in a nursery or Early Years setting.

May involve standing, bending, and lifting as part of daily activities.

Regular interactions with children, parents, and fellow staff members.
