Job description

We are looking for a candidate to join us in the Early Years Team to ensure the planning, management, monitoring and delivery of activity to enable Westmorland and Furness Council to meet its duties under the Childcare Act 2006 including achieving relevant targets and deadlines.

To take responsibility for identified areas of service development within the Early Years strategic plan to improve specific outcomes for children and young people, including the creation and sustainability of high-quality Early Years provision. This role also includes project management of the extension of free entitlements and school wraparound childcare from April 2024 till September 2025.

Start date: 1st March or as soon as possible

Who we are looking for

The successful candidate will work as part of a supportive and experienced team, and will need to be a strong communicator, who can adapt to the appropriate audience and build strong relationships for successful collaboration. You will assist childcare providers, through provision of practical guidance, training, access to information, key contacts, and other appropriate techniques, to develop and sustain childcare provision where the Childcare Sufficiency Assessment highlights that this is necessary, or in response to new national and local initiatives. We are also looking for someone who has successful experience of coordination, planning and management of complex projects.
