Job description
The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of a specialist one to one Education service within Foyle Down Syndrome Trust to enhance the communication, language, literacy, numeracy and social skills of our children and young people with Down syndrome, aged 0 to 12. Will also work as a team to develop and deliver a user led social programmes for the 0-3 and 4-7 year old groups. .

Relevant Degree i.e. Education, Early Years, Early Childhood Studies Or Minimum of 5 years paid experience as a Special Needs AssistantExperience delivering education sessions to children with a learning disabilityKnowledge of the dynamics and impact of Down syndrome and how best to support children with the conditionExcellent communication skillsAn understanding of health and safety requirements in providing high quality service provision for children with a disabilityClear knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding , Qualified Teacher Experience using interventions such as Makaton, PECS, visual stories as methods of communication
