About the Role This Education and Student Services Manager is a full-time, permanent post available from end of March 2024. The Education and Student Services Manager is directly responsible for management and provision of effective and efficient administrative support for all teaching and learning activities throughout the student cycle for undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes in the School of Chemical and Physical Sciences at QMUL. Working closely with the Director of Education and academic leads for education, the Education and Student Services Manager will contribute towards the design, development, quality assurance and delivery of taught programme curriculum and will formulate policies and procedures which best support the School’s education strategy. The post provides direct line management for the Education and Student Services Team comprising 5 posts; including recruitment, induction, training, personal development, 1-2-1’s, appraisals and performance management, delivery against key performance indicators This role would suit someone who would like to develop their skills as a manager and leader of a team within education administration in a Higher Education Institution. On-site presence is required for a minimum of 3 days a week. About You You will have significant experience of teaching administration and detailed knowledge of quality assurance processes and governance frameworks within Higher Education, including analysis of feedback and leading on actions to improved services. You will have a good understanding of the university structure and culture and context of the pressures and challenges facing the Higher Education sector and in particular the importance of the student experience. Extensive knowledge of curriculum design and assessment approaches and methods is essential as is a record of successful line management and development of staff. A professional approach and the ability to promote the School as a professional, friendly and welcoming environment to all stakeholders is crucial as is the ability to be flexible and acquire new skills and training as appropriate. About the School This post is based within the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences which has over 150 staff. The School forms one of five within the Faculty of Science and Engineering and consists of two distinct research departments: Chemistry and Physics & Astronomy, both delivering world-leading research and high-class teaching. The School is located on the Mile End Campus in the purpose-built Joseph Priestley and G.O. Jones Buildings.
