This is an exciting opportunity to undertake an expansive and varied role within the Clinical Skills team supporting the design and delivery of a wide range of Educational programmes
  • Work as a role model to learners in the clinical environment
  • Supporting the planning, development, delivery, evaluation, and ongoing development of clinical skills training across all areas of the ICO including external care providers in line with the enhanced health in care home structure
  • Being responsive and anticipatory to the requirements of service development
  • Training delivery will include Clinical Skills and contributing to Moving and Manual Handling Training across the ICO when required
  • Ensuring all training is evidence-based and developed in line with statutory training standards, i.e. CQC, Ofsted, NHS England, NMC code of conduct, Skills for care etc.
  • Participating in the development of innovative design and delivery of training
  • The post holder will support learners, providing advice and guidance as appropriate, referring to the Clinical Skills Facilitator as necessary
providing consistency of delivery and training across the specialties within the ICO
  • Contributing to clinical assessment review
  • Participating in the developing and maintaining of Quality Assurance processes to ensure learner engagement and learning outcomes are consistently met, reviewed, and updated regularly
  • To maintain CPD at a level that both supports the role and facilitates supervision, knowledge, and skills required to assess and teach learners
The Education Directorate is an integrated and inter-professional team leading, developing, and delivering education and training for Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust and the wider Torbay and South Devon Community.

Communication and working relationships
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders e.g. clinical, non-clinical leads and managers
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of an integrated education team that meets the needs of the ICO
  • Collaborate with the wider education directorate to ensure consistency in messages delivered through the training
  • Work in collaboration with the other Education facilitators
  • Engage with learners, obtaining evaluation and feedback for Quality Assurance purposes
  • Partnership working with Educational providers and other health trusts, social care sector and independent sector as directed by Moving and Manual Handling Lead
  • Support all learners as an active member of the wider education team
  • Regular engagement and liaison with clinical areas and external care providers to develop and evaluate training and education
  • To provide manual handling education, advice and expertise to managers and colleagues across the ICO and act as the link between the clinical and non-clinical services and education directorate
  • Ability to work as part of a team
Planning and organisation
  • To participate in an innovative, proactive and anticipatory approach to the training needs of the ICO
  • Record and prioritise all incoming work on a regular basis, including responding quickly and appropriately to urgent or important issues and queries
  • Support with projects for moving and manual handling training development
  • Planning, delivering and evaluating a multi-disciplinary moving and manual handling training
  • Work within all services to develop training programmes that are relevant
  • To support the design and delivery of inductions
  • Embed research-based approaches in to training programmes
  • Manage own resources for the delivery of education programmes
  • Rotate time across acute and community services appropriately and depending on the changing demands of the service
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable
Responsibility and accountability
  • The Trust operates a range of policies, e.g. Human Resources, Clinical Practice (available on the Trust intranet). All Trust employees must observe and adhere to the provisions outlined in these policies
  • As a Trust employee you are expected to work in accordance with the Trust’s values
  • Adherence to Trust policies including housekeeping procedures, fault reporting and the security of the premises as required in order to ensure the safety and security of individuals
  • To actively engage in and manage quality assurance processes
  • To support the moving and manual handling team in the planning and organisation of programmes
  • Maintain systems for monitoring and analysing safer systems of work through audit.
  • Undertake the robust processes and systems in place for the evaluation of education programmes
  • Implement and update systems for monitoring and analysing safer systems of work through audit
  • Responsible for maintaining administration and recording systems and documentation
  • Follow action plans for areas of responsibility
  • To provide data for regular reports as required
  • To prioritise training needs for specific clinical services
  • Maintain own professional development and portfolio of skills
Responsibility for supervision, leadership and management
  • To attend meetings (internal and external) as relevant
  • Undertake delegated tasks from Clinical skills Facilitator as required
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert in your field with support and supervision from Moving and Manual Handling facilitators
Information technology and administrative duties
  • Assist in the development of innovative ways of delivering training
  • Supports the development of digital technology for learning
  • Ensures the maintenance of the HIVE content for the courses
Responsibility for research and development
  • To ensure all training is research based and in line with local and national guidelines
  • That any and all alterations to training is recorded for Quality Assurance purposes
