Job description

With up to 200 indoor and outdoor activities available, Center Parcs is the perfect place for families to try something new together. The Leisure team plays a key role in ensuring families feel confident, safe and happy during their activity, whatever their age or ability.

There are many opportunities in the Leisure team, and our offering of activities continues to grow. From donning an eye patch in Pirate and Princess Adventure, to whizzing around a track in Quad Bike Safari or scaling the forest canopy in Aerial Adventure, our focus is on delivering a quality experience that guests will remember, whether it’s their first or fiftieth time.

EDUCATIONAL RANGER | £12.46 per hour

Our team of Educational Ranger’s offer extensive knowledge of local flora and fauna as well as guided walks to our guests. They escort our guests on early morning tours of the forest, offering an insight into the varied habitats in the Forest and the plants, birds and animals that live here. Habitat making and willow weaving are also sought after activities where guests of all ages can take part and make attractive functional objects and structures to take home.

As an Educational Ranger you will conduct nature walks offering guests extensive knowledge of wildlife and natural history, ensuring their session is engaging, educational and memorable. You will be responsible for delivering nature activities such as willow weaving, bug hunts and habitat box making to a high standard, sharing your knowledge and passion for nature. Working alongside the Conservation Team you will provide a friendly and professional service at all times.

Due to the sensitive nature of this role the successful applicant will be required to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) with Child List Barring Check. This disclosure, together with other selection information, will need to be satisfactory to the Company for employment to commence.

HOURS OF WORK

You will be contracted to work 64 hours per 4-week period on a flexible basis. This means that your days and hours of work could vary each week, but you will always receive at least your contracted hours each period.

Shifts will fall between the hours of 7am and 8pm. As our village is open 365 days of the year, your working hours will include weekends, public / bank holidays and during Christmas and / or New Year on a rota basis.

ABOUT YOU

Our ideal candidate will have a wide knowledge of wildlife and natural history, ideally with a specific personal interest in one study group. Previous experience of nature interpretation and of leading educational activities is preferred but not essential.

Essential requirements:

  • Clean full UK Driving Licence
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with both adults and children
  • Excellent customer care skills

Desirable requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a guest facing environment
