We are looking for an EHS SpecialistFire and Life to join our team. Responsible for partnering with EHS R&D Team members to support the governance, development and continuous improvement of the Fire and Life, and general EHS support as relevant to the business needs, GSK’s objectives and compliant with regulations.

This role will also provide general support to GSK UK R&D to ensure delivery of an efficient and effective EHS service across sites in the region that meets customer needs and meets required standards, support the local awareness and knowledge development in key technical EHS aspects and management systems.

This individual will drive success by engaging, influencing and collaborating, globally, to ensure our Fire and Life procedures, training, and communications are being effectively managed within an extremely complex and diverse organization.

In this role you will

  • Develop, implement, manage and track all aspects of the Fire and Life safety programme.
  • Provide competent and Fire and Life advice
  • Lead Fire and Life audits and investigations into Fire and Life accidents and incidents across a full range of GSK operating companies to monitor progress in this particular specialism.
  • Participate in the review of training, procedures and systems to ensure they are fit for purpose, meet their customer needs on a local and global level and in line with emerging requirements.
  • Work with the R&D customer groups to develop and refine local Fire and Life management systems in line with emerging requirements and needs.
  • Influence and negotiate with stakeholders to ensure EHS programmes and practices enable Business Areas to continue operations in an efficient, safe and environmentally responsible way.
  • Work with Corporate EHS on standards revisions, central systems and processes to support R&D and EHS&S R&D.
  • Lead and participate on other EHS&S projects as requested to support R&D and the EHS&S R&D Team.
  • Provide services and solutions to R&D business area and/or specialism that meet legal and corporate requirements whilst also satisfying the evolving needs of the business
  • Extensive matrix working and influencing required with a range of EHS&S, R&D, WREF and Corporate groups

Why you?

Basic Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Higher level qualification in scientific related discipline or the field of Fire and Life.
  • Experience of delivering specialist technical expertise to business customers particularly related to Fire and Life, Radiation and/or controlled drugs.
  • Experiencing of providing EHS support, working as a Fire and Life Adviser/Supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply:

  • Degree and Postgraduate qualification in scientific subject preferably chemistry,
  • Recognized safety qualification - NEBOSH Diploma highly desirable
  • Experience in Fire and Life in a Pharmaceutical or high hazard environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and have experience of Fire and Life / radiation / controlled drugs programmes.
  • Clear thinking, decisive and prepared to challenge to maintain standards and ensure regulatory compliance.
