Brief Description


The Role of the Electrical Control Operator is to ensure the safe delivery of electrical power to the Railway Infrastructure and maintain this supply at an optimum level.

Please be aware this role holds a mandatory requirement for the incumbent to hold valid security vetting clearance. Any offer will be conditional on the successful candidate obtaining clearance prior to a start date being agreed. About the role (External)


Working as part of a small team you will be required to work to detailed electrical instructions and regulatory requirements, liaise with and direct response staff toward electrical incidents and emergencies as is deemed appropriate and ensure that power supplies are configured correctly as circumstances require.

You will be expected to analyse electrical diagrams and make cases for appropriate amendments, plan and effect electrical isolations acting as a direct interface with maintenance delivery units, liaise with HV Energy supply companies to accommodate HV outage planning and alternative feeding arrangements as well as monitor via supervisory systems the overall status of the railways electrical infrastructure across a large geographical area.

You will also be required to ensure the security integrity of the control is maintained at all times, be adaptable to continual competency assessment which includes the ability to absorb complex rules and electrically oriented regulations.

Please Note: this role involves shift working across a 365 day, 24/7 shift pattern including nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Work to and understand authorised electrification instructions and rule books.

2. Deal with electrical supply issues in the safest and most appropriate manner.

3. Check isolations diagrams for amendments, advising the appropriate Engineer of amendments required.

4. Isolation planning.

5. Respond to incidents and emergencies in a safe and proficient manner.

6. Mentoring and coaching other ECROs.

7. An understanding of Safety Critical Communication Protocols.

8. A participate in competency assessment arrangements.

9. A clear understanding of the NTS Framework.

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

Desirable

Experience in working within an Electrical Control Room or working on railway traction systems.

Electrical Engineering qualifications.



Salary: £60,209 per annum
