This Electrical Design Engineer will report to the Principal Design Engineer and will work within UKPN Services based in our Heathrow office. You will be a permanent employee. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote
You will attract a salary of £58,229 plus outer London Allowance and a bonus of 3%

JOB PURPOSE:
You will report to the Principal Design Engineer. You will work as part of a diverse team, providing technical design excellence across a portfolio of contracts to place UK Power Networks Services in the top tier for design-and-build of private assets on safety, customer service and efficiency.
You will oversee the delivery of designs. You will ensure that UKPN Services produce high-quality design solutions that comply with relevant legislation, client requirements and all applicable standards.
You will provide technical liaison with suppliers and clients for the successful delivery of projects and the creation of new business.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Typical accountabilities for the Design Engineer will include:
- Produce designs for clients across the UKPN Services business that deliver good industry practice
- Provide technical input to the team and into UKPN Services bids
- Ensure that design solutions meet client specifications and allow accurate tender submissions to be developed
- Assess cost/benefit trade-off of technical solution and support the technical decision-making processes
- Identify areas for technological advancement whilst maintaining excellent engineering standards
DIMENSIONS
Annual works costs: projects in the value of £100k to £50m.
Qualifications:
- Degree level or equivalent in engineering or science
- Work towards achieving IEng or CEng
- Membership of a professional body such as the IET
- Knowledge of power distribution and electrification systems
- Familiar with BS 7671 18th edition
- Knowledge of SCADA and communication systems
- Basic knowledge of project management
