About the Role:
As an Electrical and Controls Design Engineer / Electrical Controls Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the detailed design of the electrical hardware systems for a variety of existing and new systems. This will be achieved by working with the project managers, mechanical and software design teams. You will also be involved in testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of the electrical and control systems on site. This is not an IT role although you will be working closely with their department. This is a one man role and you will need the experience and knowledge to be able to fit the ground running.
Duties of the Role
- Design electrical and control systems for media-based attractions using AutoCAD electrical and other software tools.
- Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, cable schedules, and bill of materials.
- Select and specify electrical and control components, such as PLCs, inverters, sensors, switches, relays, etc.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations, such as EN13814, BS7671, CE marking, etc.
- Perform design risk assessments and functional safety analysis using Sistema or similar tools.
- Support the manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of the electrical and control systems on site.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for the electrical and control systems during operation and maintenance.
Candidate Experience
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills, and experience:
- Electrical design and/or controls engineering background (ideally roughly 5 years experience)
- HND/HNC or higher in an electrical engineering discipline.
- AutoCAD / AutoCAD electrical, report and specification writing
- Beckhoff, Siemens, or Allen Bradley PLC systems and large inverter drives (advantageous)
- Able to complete all products stages of detailed brief
- Knowledge of design risk assessment processes and functional safety standards (advantageous)
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
