Electrical Design Engineer

Salary: £45K-£55K DOE
Jackson Hogg is delighted to be working with a global supplier of fluid transfer systems and offshore equipment for the Oil&Gas and Marine industries. They have lots of sites in the UK and abroad and their clients consist of blue chip companies.
This Electrical Design Engineer will be mostly office based, in Cramlington.
Electrical Design Engineer Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake and check detail design and preparation of electrical and instrumentation engineering deliverables for new and existing products.
- Responsibility for the execution of, or assisting with, the execution of a contract to supply equipment or services. Liaising with the client and ensure that all electrical and instrumentation project deliverables required under the terms of the contract are delivered in accordance with the project schedule.
- Where required, specify, and assist with the procurement of goods and services required to supply the deliverables detailed in the contract.
- Responsibility for monitoring and recording electrical and instrumentation project expenditure and ensuring budgets are adhered to or improved where possible.
- Undertake and support on site installation, commissioning, and service support activities in the UK and abroad both onshore and offshore.
Electrical Design Engineer Key Requirements:
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in an electrical, control or manufacturing engineering biased discipline or recognised engineering apprenticeship/training history.
- Experienced engineer with minimum 3 years marine, oil and gas or petrochemical industry experience. Experienced in the use of industry standards, specifications, and directives with emphasis on ATEX and IECEx.
- Competent in the design and installation requirements of systems using hazardous area equipment.
- Competent in creating detailed electrical and instrument engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
- Experienced in the requirements for the installation and commissioning of electrical and instrument control systems.
- Familiar with PLC based control systems.
- Ability to interpret requirements from client specifications applicable to scope.
- Aware of commercial, contractual and administrate aspects of engineering projects.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and willing to adapt to change whilst progressing the engineering deliverables required for the project.
- Understand and interpret detailed electrical, hydraulic, process and instrumentation drawings.
- Understanding of industry communication protocols such as Ethernet, HART, Modbus, and ControlNet etc.
Desirable:
- Previous experience with onshore or offshore marine equipment would be advantageous.
- Previous participation in HAZOPS, HAZIDS and SIL assessments.
- Experience working with certifying marine authorities such as ABS, DNV and BV.
- Experience of using Autodesk Inventor to check and provide feedback for positioning of installation equipment.
