The Electrical Design Manager will be working within the M&E Team on a variety of projects. You will be responsible for delivering and overseeing the Electrical Design and master-planning of projects whilst also undertaking client liaison and attending technical meetings with design teams, architects and contractors.
The role will generally involve the following:
·Taking the design management lead on major projects within the office.
·Reviewing contract documents such as Employers requirements, Tender RFIs, Construction programs, Tender returns/qualifications, and design information (specifications, energy strategies, overheating reports and acoustic reports) once a project has been awarded.
·Liaise with estimating & preconstruction to ensure that all relevant information is captured in the tender handover files and implemented in the design
·Manage the design delivery for assigned projects – to include:
oManagement of in-house Design/BIM resources, or external design consultants where required, to deliver the design aspect of the project
oReview and comment on drawings, technical submissions, equipment schedules and specifications
oEnsure design is compliant with ERs, Tender requirements, and legislation
oEnsure buildability of design
oManage client/main contractor approval process
·Attend internal and external design meetings to monitor progress, identify issues effecting progress and assist in dealing with the issues to avoid delays.
·Setup trackers and agree timelines with the client, our design, and commercial teams ensuring they are closed out as early as possible and properly documented.
·Assist our internal commercial team to get into full contract as early as possible on each project on design related items/issues.
·Review subcontractor design proposals and ensure they are incorporated into the overall design.
