The Opportunity:
An Electrical Development Technicianis required by a remarkable, innovative and progressive design, development and manufacturing business in Exeter. This role is ideal for anyone with a broad range skillset offering a nice balance of hands-on practical work with project management and coordination. You will manage multiple projects both short and long term and contributing ideas across multiple disciplines. Flexibility is key to this role.The successful candidate will assist with building prototypes, lead development activity and projects, and work with other departments to take projects from concept to production. The right candidate (through qualifications and experience) would be responsible for taking products through test and certification procedures using third party test laboratories and feedback to influence new development projects.
The Role:
- Develop new electric and electronic effects for future product ranges in conjunction with software and creative engineers.
- Lead own project development projects taking design into production.
- Keep detailed records for documentation and later referral.
- Build prototype products, test jigs and other relevant hardware to support the R&D department.
- Follow relevant industry standards and update appropriate departments with changes and make suggestions on implementation where possible or required.
- Manage testing for safety and performance, including documentation and traceability for both product development and pre compliance.
- Liaise with production engineering to implement correct production test procedures for new electric/electronic products.
- Maintain and improve upon personal skills relating to the role, through experience and training.
- Knowledge of electrical/electronic systems gained in the domestic product or Electronics industry is essential.
- Experience of project management within small/mid-scale projects both individually and with wider teams or third-party resource is essential.
- Proven ability to interpret technical information such as industry standards and propose appropriate action to ensure those standards or technical requirements are being met.Knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
